Best Zappa line up?

Obviously his music has been influenced by the line up he had at the time. I really the stuff Flo and Eddie (Live at The Fillmore in particular) and the sensation "Night" / "Apostrophe" time. Its controls later leaves me a bit cold, to be honest

'Fraid I disagree there old bean! I saw the 88 line-up at Wembley and the musical sound and pure blew me away! The "Jazz Noise" album is one of my favoutites, but strangely, "Best Band" its not the same tour almost as good. I like the time Napoleon Murphy Brock / Ruth Underwood, and the short duration Adrian Belew / Eddie Jobson / Terry Bozzio band for his madness, even though Flo & Eddie were good too, but my favorite is probably the late '70s / early 80s line-up with Steve Vai, Vinnie Colaiuta, Tommy Mars, Ike Willis crew. This set has really supassed, ironically mainly on Shut up and play " albums, which are supposed to be a guitar album. Hell, it's ALL! Zappa was famous for using whatever powers the members the band had, so it always seemed to coax the best of them, many have never managed to achieve the same success thereafter, with the exception of Steve Vai. A unique talent, still missed.
